Microcassette

Product Summary:
Microcassettes are often used for audio recordings from interviews to answering messages. If you would like your tape repaired or permanently stored on a CD or hard drive, come to us at Montreal Home Movies. To see all our microcassette options, please visit our export section.
Product Description:
A Microcassette is an audio storage medium introduced by Olympus in 1969. It uses the same width of magnetic tape as the compact cassette but in a much smaller container. By using thinner tape and half or a quarter the tape speed, microcassettes can offer comparable recording time to the compact cassette. The original standard microcassette, the MC60, gives 30 minutes recording per side at its standard speed of 2.4 cm/s. Microcassettes have mostly been used for recording voice. In particular, they are commonly used in dictation machines and answering machines. However, Microcassettes have also been used as a medium for computer data storage, and as a medium for recording music.
While microcassettes are no longer frequently used, at Montreal Home Movies, we have the equipment and expertise to do a number of things with your microcassette. Microcassettes are most often used for audio recordings such as interviews and legal proceedings. Most of our customers request either microcassette to CD, microcassette to mp3, or microcassette to WAV transfers. We also get a lot of calls because people need their microcassettes repaired. Often times the tape inside has snapped and we fix them so they can be listened to again. We even get people calling us because they want to preserve their answering message. Whatever your request is, our team has extensive experience with microcassettes and can handle whatever you want. Please visit our remastering section to learn about the microcassette transfer process.
Also make sure to check out our export section to view all of your options with microcassette tapes. Whether you want your recording transferred to CD, or hard drive, Montreal Home Movies is your number one option.
