Testimonials

I am very pleased with the work provided by Toronto Home Movies in converting some family home movies from film reels to dvd, and some audio cassette tapes to CD. They were instrumental to us in preserving this terrific footage, which almost feels like you're using a time machine to witness events of the past. And the best is that these family movies will be preserved and available for future generations. I was impressed with their assistance, attention to detail, and ability to do the conversions in a good timeframe. If you are looking for a business to take care of your film mementoes, I recommend them.

Thank you for a great job, well done.

Product Description:
A photograph (often shortened to photo) is an image created by light falling on a light-sensitive surface. The word “photograph” coined 1839 by Sir John Herschel. Photographs are produced with a two-step chemical process In the two-step process the light-sensitive film captures a negative image (colors and lights/darks are inverted). To produce a positive image, the negative is most commonly transferred (printed) onto photographic paper. Originally, all photographs were monochromatic, or hand-painted in color. Although methods for developing colour photos were available as early as 1861, they did not become widely available until the 1940s or 50s. Even in the 1960s most photographs were taken in black and white. Since then, colour photos have dominated popular photography, although black and white is still used, being easier to develop than colour.
The world of photography is currently experiencing the most dramatic conversion ever. Digital photography is easy to use, has storage that is convenient with a high capacity and has media portability. At Montreal Home Movies, we are your number one option for converting your photograph to a digital image. The most common photograph to digital formats we do are JPEG, TIFF and PSD. Our photograph to digital image options consist of having your pictures stored on your personal hard drive, a memory stick, or a DVD data disc.
With the advent of digital technology, from laptops, to desktops and iPod’s, people are able to view there their images with maximum ease and accessibility. We use only the highest quality Canon scanners and usually scan to 1200dpi (suitable to reprint an 8×10 image). Of course we can scan at higher resolutions upon request. Our team of experts handles your old photos with care and ensures that the digital images are the highest possible quality. Please see our remastering section to learn more about our photograph to digital conversion method.
At Montreal Home Movies, we also give you the option of having your new digital images presented in a slide show on the program of your choosing, such as Flash and PowerPoint. To see all your additional options for photographs, please visit our export section.
